Empowering Bright Minds to Achieve Their Dreams

Founded in 1994, the Foundation for Excellence (FFE) is dedicated to transforming the lives of academically gifted, economically challenged students in India by providing merit-based scholarships for Engineering, Medical, and Law programs.

Our mission is to help these students complete their higher education through a comprehensive Scholarship Program that includes employability skills training and mentorship.

Supported by FFE alumni, individual donors, corporations, and foundations worldwide, we aim to uplift scholars and their communities within a single generation.

What we do

Help Economically Underprivileged And Academically Bright Students In India Accomplish Their Goals Of Pursuing Higher Education Through

Financial Support

Award merit-cum-means Scholarships to students, pursuing their higher studies in Engineering (BE/BTech), Medical (MBBS) and Law in India. The support is provided for all the 4/5 years of the college depending on the stream

Employability Skills

The Comprehensive Program is implemented over a 3-year period to identify and bridge the gap between curriculum and Industry expectations. This helps develop interpersonal and Industry required technical skills thus enabling a smooth transition from Campus to Corporate

Mentoring

The Mentorship Program is specifically developed for third-year FFE scholars to help them acquire skills that are necessary for building a foundation for a good career. This is a 1:1 Mentoring with an experienced professional from the industry

The Journey of a FFE Scholar

The journey of a FFE scholar commences with the submission of a scholarship application by a meritorious student who has secured admission in Engineering, Medical or Law colleges. Applicants who meet FFE’s entrance examination rank requirements and family income criteria are subject to a phone screening, followed by document verification by the FFE scholarship team.

Subsequently, a physical verification process is conducted where over 700 FFE facilitators, located throughout India, visit the homes of shortlisted students, interact with their family members, and assess their living conditions and family income. Upon receiving positive feedback from the facilitator, the FFE scholarship team matches the selected student with a donor and informs the student of the scholarship award, which is then directly deposited into the student’s bank account.

Throughout the four to five years of their college education, FFE provides financial support and maintains a relationship with its scholars. The organization also offers necessary soft and technical skills training, informative webinars, and one-on-one mentorship until graduation. Many FFE scholars receive attractive job offers, while a few opt for higher education in India or abroad.

Upon graduation, scholars continue their association with FFE as alumni and provide financial support for incoming FFE scholars. Currently, around 10% of FFE’s scholarships are funded by alumni, and it is anticipated that this percentage will increase in the future.

Circle of Giving

Alumni Impact

FFE’s Circle of Giving is our alumni-led pay-it-forward initiative where former scholars give back through donations, mentoring, webinars, and career guidance. This creates a cycle where a supported student becomes a supporter.
